Successful last mile facility installed by Mainway Handling in the GTA.

The system was completed earlier this year. The building was an old Sears distribution center into which Mainway was able to integrate and install a fully functional sorting system for one of the largest logistics companies in the world.

This facility issued interesting challenges for conveyor and materials handling considering the low ceiling heights and odd building shape, however the equipment included in the system incorporates;

  • Direct trailer loading and unloading via extendable belt conveyors
  • P&D loading and unloading via mobile Unload units
  • Heavy duty belt conveyors (straight, curved, inclines and declines) for handling the wide range of product conveyed over the system
  • Manual sortation at key positions throughout the system for correct operational workflow

Mainway also designed and had fabricated the conveyor walkovers and platforms needed for access over and around the conveyors.

With this new sorting distribution center the last mile is ever closer to the GTA area, fulfilling the ever increasing mass of online orders and keeping customer satisfaction high.
